Hobbits, Hulk, and the Eater of Worlds

Sam Raimi tells Entertainment Weekly he’d be up to direct The Hobbit And there’s also some stuff about the Spiderman franchise, which will apparently never end. There’s even going to be a musical! Also, early reviews are showing up for Spider-Man 3 – Beware spoilers!

Edward Norton to play The Hulk; America probably just better off renting Fight Club. Seriously now, Scriptwriter Zak Penn talks Hulk, Norton, and the Avengers.

Another nail in The Hobbit’s coffin

Robert Shaye, the head of New Line Cinema and executive producer on the LOTR films, says the studio will not make another movie with Peter Jackson – at least while he’s in charge.

And while we’re on the subject of Jackson, here’s a hilarious article about him remaking The Wizard of Oz.

Rumor Mill: Sam Raimi’s The Hobbit?

Word on the street is that the powers that be are courting Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Evil Dead) to step into Peter Jackson’s shoes. Not a bad idea, but would he even be willing?

Hobbit movie still in limbo

There might be two of them. Or not. In other words, more of the same.

In an interview with AICN, Peter Jackson talks about the limbo that is The Hobbit. Guess what? He heard the latest rumors on the internet, along with everyone else. More hopeful is the first part of the interview, where he talks about the Temeraire books. He even mentions Star Wars and franchise-building:

What I love about what George Lucas has done with STAR WARS, which I think is really cool, is that you have the movies and the movies, obviously, are the flagships of the saga, of the storytelling, but you have the comic books and the novels and everything that fills out what happens inbetween the films and what happens in other places while the films are occurring. I love that expansion of the world. This is, to me, has also got the same possibilities. The movies can be the epics and there can be other forms of entertainment that can be running alongside the movies, expanding the world of the books and the story.

Been there, done that

The Hobbit in 2007? (Thanks, Yav!) It must be a nefarious plot by New Line to overshadow the 30th anniversary of Star Wars.

Okay, seriously, weren’t there rights issues involved? I don’t recall hearing anything about a resolution… But then, it is just an anon tip, so who knows?
