Ron Howard shared another Han Solo set pic Tuesday. “Droids help make the Galaxy go round,” he tweeted. “but I find they don’t always listen to the director!” He later said that fans hoping for an apperance from his brother Clint Howard “won’t be disappointed.”
Ron Howard shared another Han Solo set pic, revealing a new alien (who seems to be wearing some kind of astronaut-esque helmet?) and confirming that cinematographer Bradford Young is still on board. (Not that he was ever so much as rumored not to be.)
The still-untitled Han Solo movie now has a composer – John Powell. His previous credits include the Bourne movies, How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek and many more. Powell follows Rogue One’s Michael Giacchino as only the second composer not named John Williams to score a live-action Star Wars film.
Ron Howard shares another somewhat revealing shot from the Han Solo film – this time with an image of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian on his monitor.
Another Twitter snap by new Hanthlogy director Ron Howard shows us Chewbacca – and a brief, fuzzy look at two Wookiees having a moment. Will we be seeing Chewie’s family on screen, for the first time since the Holiday Special? Or, given that Chewbacca himself is behind the camera, two new Wookiees entirely?
Chewbacca’s wife, Malla, and son, Lumpawaroo, both appeared in the Aftermath books, making them canon again. We’ve also seen, most notably in Rebels, that the concept of the Empire enslaving Wookiees for labor was also maintained. That was a major part of the Han and Chewbacca backstory in the noncanon Legends timeline (introduced in Brian Daley’s Han Solo novels), and could possibly be revisited in the film.
Ron Howard finally points his camera at something we can use – someone’s wardrobe. The Twitter version features some colorful and very satiny jackets, while the Instagram one looks a bit more like capes. Consensus? Lando, naturally. Seems a little too easy, though.
Meanwhile, Woody Harrelson comments on the director change… Well, exactly how you’d expect Woody Harrelson to comment.
TMZ is at it again, and this time they have some shots from the Han Solo film that appear to actually be from a studio shoot. They feature Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo, Woody Harrelson’s Beckett, Chewbacca, and a woman who could be Emilia Clarke. The shots supposedly date from before Lord and Miller’s exit.
Meanwhile, Ron Howard shares his coffee cup.
New director Ron Howard has tweeted his first photo from the Han Solo set… And it isn’t really much of anything. Oh well.
“Cool scene today,” he wrote. “But I’m afraid this is the most revealing image I dare share from my 1st day on the set of the Untitled Han Solo movie.”
Ron Howard is the new director of the untitled Han Solo film. His name came up in the trades shortly after it was announced that original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were leaving the project. (Or fired, if one believes the trade reports.)
Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican has a new take on what lead to the split – and why it wasn’t apparent earlier.
The film will resume shooting on July 10.
And now, the tweets. Under the cut with you!
