One book and two brand-new comics are coming this week. On Tuesday, August 8 Dan Wallace’s On the Front Lines will officially be released. Wednesday, August 9 brings Doctor Aphra #11 and the Cassian and K-2SO special. (With a variant cover.)
Cassian Andor and K-2SO are getting their own prequel – a Marvel comic. Cassian & K-2SO Special #1 will be written by Duane Swierczynski with art by Fernando Blanco, and will show how the pair met. Look for it in August.
Here’s another early draft Rogue One tidbit from Entertainment Weekly and Gary Whitta: Darth Vader’s original victim weren’t nameless Rebel soldiers, but a major character in the film. The piece also includes a new video.
Meanwhile, here’s some behind-the-scenes videos from the filming, including a feature on Alan Tudyk K-2SO.
The cast was on The Star Wars Show! And here’s even more interviews: Gareth Edwards on how they filmed the X-wing battle. John Knoll is also talking space battles and the full-size X-wings and the (not so full-sized) Star Destroyer models. Ben Mendelsohn on where Krennic ranks on the Star Wars villain scale and addresses his relationship with Tarkin. And finally, Mads Mikkelsen on fighting Darth Vader.
→ Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican on the origins of K-2SO. Speaking of the Brez, check out his interview on the latest Steele Wars, a must-listen for anyone curious about Star Wars journalism.
→ The film has a release date in China: January 6, 2017.
→ Shockingly, Reddit Neo-Nazis are pissed about Rogue One. More seats for us, dude.
Alan Tudyk drops some details on his Rogue One character, the droid K-2SO, over at Entertainment Weekly. He adresses Kaytoo’s past as an Imperial security droid, his accent, and his relationship with Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, and even describes a scene – or part of one, anyway. EW this week has also covered the planet Jedha and spoke to Riz Ahmed about his character Bodhi Rook.
→ Speaking of Bodhi, Birth Movie Death’s Siddhant Adlakha looks at what the character and the casting bode for the new era of Star Wars being more inclusive.
→ A whole bunch of Rogue One stuff has shown up in the StarWars.com Databank. Most noteably, we learn that Jedha is “small desert moon frosted by a permanent winter” and “home to one of the first civilizations to explore the nature of the Force.” We also learn what Orson Krennic is director of, more about the death troopers and where Saw Gerrera has been hanging out. Also up: Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, Chirrut Imwe, Baze Malbus, Bodhi Rook, K-2SO, shoretroopers, AT-ACTs and Scarif.
→ Donnie Yen talks to Extra about one reason why the Empire may be so interested in Jedha.
→ Rogue One has an official synopsis. It’s nothing we don’t know already.
