The Rise of Skywalker (Trailer #2)

Here’s what Disney wants awards voters to consider for The Rise of Skywalker.

SPOILER WARNING: Also up is John Williams’ score. While the link has no track titles, they were in the metadata and have been named elsewhere. There’s nothing quite on the level of ‘Qui-Gon’s Noble End’, but if you’re particularly spoiler-averse, please avoid all the usual suspects. (And I wouldn’t listen to the audio, either.) If you’re not, you probably don’t need me to say they’re on Reddit, but… They’re on Reddit. Thus endth anything that could be considered a spoiler.

Ewan McGregor’s current beard is only the “practice” Obi-Wan

On Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, Ewan McGregor talks about his Obi-Wan “practice beard,” reading William Shatner’s book Get A Life on a prequel set with Ahmed Best, the big Disney+ reveal, and his new movie, Doctor Sleep.

Meanwhile, Hayden Christensen was spotted at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge. The official Disneyland Twitter tweeted the photos and then deleted the tweet, promoting even more speculation as to what secrets he’s keeping. However, note that @StarWars later tweeted the pics themselves.

Today(ish) in Rogue One: Embargos, aliens and clips

Yes, I’m a bit behind on this one, but sometimes 10 inches of snow happens and you have to shovel it. Twice. And then, uh, go to a thing in-between. Which brings us to the real reason for this item: To remind you that reviews for Rogue One come off embargo at noon EST (9 a.m. PST) tomorrow. Consider yourself warned!

→ Entertainment Weekly has a gallery of the new aliens and droids we’ll see in Rogue One. That’s Beezer Fortuna on the right, and as Pablo points out, he seems to be inspired by an old Bib Fortuna maquette.

Bob Iger does the CEO thing and plays it safe re: that one boycott. “Frankly, this is a film that the world should enjoy. It is not a film that is, in any way, a political film. There are no political statements in it, at all.” This film? Maybe. The franchise? Well…

→ The cast was on Jimmy Kimmel on Friday. Watch all the videos at Jedi News or just skip straight to the clip.

→ Another new clip, plus featurettes on Scarif and the Maldives and Alan Tudyk and K-2SO from the red carpet livestream. (You can watch the red carpet interviews and other features individually thanks to Disney’and Experience.)

→ Of course there’s an Uber tie-in.

Today in Rogue One: The first 28 minutes, new clips

ro-teaser1-jgn-lights1

Some journalists got a look at the first 28 minutes of Rogue One last night, and USA Today’s Brian Truitt is surprisingly forthcoming about what he saw. The veil of secrecy is so thin this time! (Yes, that’s a spoiler warning.) Underworld rounds up some more reactions.

→ A good portion of the Rogue One cast – Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Alan Tudyk, Ben Mendelsohn, and Mads Mikkelsen, plus director Gareth Edwards – will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 9. Some of The Force Awakens cast did a similar appearance last year, so expect it to go something like this.

→ Even more clips! There’s a new TV spot, a Jyn featurette and a scene at the Yavin base featuring a familiar face.
