More authors join Celebration Chicago lineup

The author lineup for Celebration Chicago is growing, adding E.K. Johnston, Justina Ireland and Zoraida Córdova. They join an already impressive list which includes Timothy Zahn, Delilah Dawson, and Claudia Gray.

Gray and Johnston both have new Star Wars books coming out in the spring: Johnston’s Padme YA novel Queen’s Shadow is out March 5, while Gray’s Master and Apprentice is due April 16, just after the con, so we can likely expect a convention exclusive version.

Celebration Chicago is being held April 11-15, 2019 at McCormick Place.

The Force Awakens novelization can be had for cheap

The Last Jedi novelization won’t be out until March, but the Kindle version of Alan Dean Foster’s The Force Awakens novelization is currently on sale for $1.99. While I can’t in any good faith recommend the novel – read the best part over at our Tumblr – it’s a good price if you’re curious, and it does include the short stories ‘The Perfect Weapon’ by Phasma author Delilah S. Dawson and ‘Bait’ by Foster.

NYCC: Zahn writing a Thrawn sequel, Forces of Destiny comics coming

The big news out of the Star Wars literature panel at New York Comic Con? A Thrawn sequel from Timothy Zahn is coming next summer. Thrawn: Alliances will also feature Darth Vader, because why not, I guess.

Since Thrawn pretty much butts up against Thrawn’s appearance and new canon debut Rebels, there’s some speculation that the book could be set after the cartoon… Which could mean that he’ll survive the show’s final season. Maybe. In any case, the book is already in the hands of Del Rey.

It’s also up on the Random House catalog, where we get a brief – but illuminating – blurb.

The sequel to New York Times bestseller Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances will continue to follow the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn to the heights of Imperial power—and accompany him into the past, witnessing his first encounter with the man who will one day become Darth Vader.

The book is currently scheduled for a June 26, 2018 release in hardcover and eBook.

Captain Phasma to star in Journey to The Last Jedi; Claudia Gray is back with a young Leia book

…Or so it seems, anyway. We’re getting a novel from Deliah S. Dawson and Del Rey, Phasma, as well as a Marvel mini-series about the character. From Disney Lucasfilm Press, a young Leia novel from Claudia Gray, and The Legends of Luke Skywalker by Ken Liu. He wrote a bit about his experience with the franchise.

Del Rey’s Saturday panel was not much for news, but we did learn that the Phasma book is a backstory of some sort. Meanwhile, Christie Golden’s Inferno Squadron is a Battlefront II prequel novel.
