The surprise new stop on Star Tours has been revealed, and it’s Batuu. The new planet will serve as the setting for the upcoming Star Wars land, Galaxy’s Edge, that will debut in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland in California.
Disney reveals the first picture from Star Tours’ visit to Crait – which launches soon at both Disneyland and Disney World’s Hollywood Studios – but they’re also teasing that it’s not the only new destination.
Could we be seeing another sequel trilogy world? Or perhaps a Rogue One based one? The ride currently features Jakku, Hoth, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Coruscant, Naboo, and the Death Star at Geonosis.
This could throw that pesky rumor for a spin… Or does it? Could we be getting multiple sequel worlds? Fans in Anaheim and Orlando will find out Friday; Paris and Tokyo will both have the new content by the end of the year.
The Disney ride Star Tours is going to split off the sequel-era content from the stuff based around the first two trilogies, WDW News Today reports.
Star Tours will debut a new The Last Jedi-based sequence at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios next month. The salt planet Crait will appear in a new sequence starting November 17 at both U.S. parks. Disneyland Paris will get it on November 22, while it goes into rotation at Tokyo Disneyland on December 15.
Lucasfilm and Marvel have announced a one-shot comic that will tie into The Last Jedi and give us more about the salt-covered planet of Crait. Storms of Crait #1 will be written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker, with art by Mike Mayhew. It will take us back to the era of the Galactic Civil War (pre-ESB, judging by Luke’s lightsaber) and “reveal major elements of its history.”
