Star Wars spinoff rumors continue to spool, read at your own risk

Are you ready for yet another set of Obi-wan standalone rumors? Today we have The Playlist, with some stuff they heard a while back (six months, so way pre-Solo). First, that Stephen Daldry “was off the project” (THR first reported his involvement in August 2017) and that the eventual movie may be headed to Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

Now, the streaming service thing isn’t a bad idea for character-based spinoffs, though of course it would probably necessitate some much lower budget goals than a feature film. Still, if you can get Ewan McGregor on board (and he has done prestige TV recently) would the fans really mind?

But again, this is info is six months old, so who can tell.

And then there’s The Sun.

Yes, The Sun, the British tabloid that back in 2013 reported that singer Florence Welch was being “lined up” for a role in what became The Force Awakens – is saying that Ewan McGregor will play Obi-wan in Episode IX. Granted, that’s at least a little less far-fetched than Florence + The Machine playing Maz’s – Ewan did have that vocal cameo in TFA – but still… It’s The Sun. Believe them at your own risk.

Oh, and if you want to go in a totally different direction, here’s TheForce.Net with some Darth Vader thing. Mind, my first thought here is “It’s for Boba Fett, right?” but who can tell. Maybe six movies aren’t enough.

Anyway, let’s end this on a positive note. I do love me some Florence Welch, even if she isn’t in Star Wars, so here’s her new single:
