Report: Star Wars saga marathon coming in December

Star Wars logoStar Wars Action News heard from an AMC manager that a full Star Wars saga marathon is in the works for the December release of The Force Awakens.

A handful of big theater chains (including AMC) have been holding similar events with the 11 Marvel Studios films in connection with this week’s release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, so it wouldn’t exactly be a stretch for Disney (and Fox) to greenlight the same for Star Wars.

Personally I’d settle for a pair of three-film combo events over a nice leisurely weekend in early December, but I suppose that’s why we have Blu-rays.

  1. But what if the Prequels were in 3D? I missed those screenings at SWCA, it’d be cool to get another shot.

    1. That would be an interesting twist. They’re not doing it for Marvel (only the new one is in 3D: To avoid eyestrain, people were speculating) but Star Wars is a different situation with only the one getting wide release.

If they DID do the trilogies over two days that would be an interesting offer. I could see them only doing 3D at an extra-special showing, like at the El Capitan.
