Nitpicking Star Tours

In-World Inconsistencies That Render Disneyland’s “Star Tours” Attraction At Best Inaccurate And At Worst Downright Apocryphal.

The posters advertising a “tour” to Yavin are somewhat inaccurate, as Yavin was actually a gas giant, and the Rebel base was on Yavin IV, one of the moons. Duh. They also feature a shot of Luke on a tauntaun on the poster for Hoth, as well as shots of Bespin, but the ride itself renders that nonsensical, since the tour clearly takes place during the Battle of Yavin, before the Alliance relocated to Hoth or anyone went to Cloud City. Again: Duh.

  1. the tour does not take place during the battle of yavin, as the trip to endor clearly happens after the battle of endor (no one would go to endor as a tourist destination until after the empire has been defeated there). nope.. this Death Star, while based on the first Death Star, is actually the Death Star III.

as for Yavin, i could easily imagine, since that for the most part Yavin IV is the only known habitable moon of Yavin (not counting Yavin VIII), people would simply mean when they were traveling to Yavin IV when they say going to Yavin (or of course, the poster could refere to the whole Yavin system, in case the tour goes to Yavin IV and VIII).

  2. the poster clearly hasn’t thought through the full ramifications of his thoughts – why leave the controls of the ship in the hands of a fallible human pilot when droids are cheaper and generally less prone to error… (and are made by big droid companies that can be sued)?
