You can always count on Crazy Fandom Grandpa William Shatner to fan the tired old Star Wars vs. Star Trek flames.

“He’s being a pig,” Shatner told Movie Fanatic. “He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk we have. But, he’s gone too far this time.”

Looks like Abrams is going to get a real tongue-lashing from the Captain next time they meet up… Maybe he should draft Shatner’s ‘nemesis’ Carrie Fisher for backup?

William Shatner responds to George Takei’s overtures of Star Peace: By demanding “retribution.” Vaguely. Maybe it’s all part of his new one-man show.

Shatner, Fisher, Shatner… Now what? George Takei, having worked in both franchises, wants to broker Star Peace. Or rather, team up on a mutual enemy.

Shatner ripped Star Wars. Carrie Fisher ripped Star Trek and Shatner. Now, Shatner responds. Oh dear. (Velour?)

Remember when William Shatner ripped on Star Wars? Carrie Fisher has taken up the gauntlet.

Apples and oranges? Pot calling the kettle black? Space western vs. space opera? TV budget vs. film budget? There’s no denying that Star Wars is derivative of many things, but Trek doesn’t even makes the top ten.

Still, you can’t really blame the guy for being partisan to his own franchise. (Or wanting Kirk to run off with Leia)

EDIT: And speaking of derivative, Heilemann  has something of a point about Trek and Forbidden Planet.

Why not?

Could this book be the internet’s next Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? Or did Jeff Burk and Bizarro Central just drink too much Shatner-aid?

Don’t expect to see Jonathan Frakes back in a uniform ever again. He’s not impressed with how things progressed with the franchise.

For that matter, don’t expect to see William Shatner, either. Get a life, people!
