Shatner calls Abrams a ‘pig’ for taking Star Wars gig

February 11th, 2013 by Dunc · 10 Comments

ShatnerYou can always count on Crazy Fandom Grandpa William Shatner to fan the tired old Star Wars vs. Star Trek flames.

“He’s being a pig,” Shatner told Movie Fanatic. “He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk we have. But, he’s gone too far this time.”

Looks like Abrams is going to get a real tongue-lashing from the Captain next time they meet up… Maybe he should draft Shatner’s ‘nemesis’ Carrie Fisher for backup?

Video: Shatner refuses to let Star Feud go gently?

January 11th, 2012 by Dunc · 2 Comments

William Shatner responds to George Takei’s overtures of Star Peace: By demanding “retribution.” Vaguely. Maybe it’s all part of his new one-man show.

Shatner, Fisher, Shatner… Now what? George Takei, having worked in both franchises, wants to broker Star Peace. Or rather, team up on a mutual enemy.

William Shatner: Star Wars is “derivative” of Trek

September 18th, 2011 by Dunc · 1 Comment

Apples and oranges? Pot calling the kettle black? Space western vs. space opera? TV budget vs. film budget? There’s no denying that Star Wars is derivative of many things, but Trek doesn’t even makes the top ten.

Still, you can’t really blame the guy for being partisan to his own franchise. (Or wanting Kirk to run off with Leia)

EDIT: And speaking of derivative, Heilemann  has something of a point about Trek and Forbidden Planet.

Behold the Shatnerquake!

April 30th, 2009 by Dunc · 4 Comments

Shatnerquake!Could this book be the internet’s next Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? Or did Jeff Burk and Bizarro Central just drink too much Shatner-aid?

It’s the first ShatnerCon with William Shatner as the guest of honor! But after a failed terrorist attack by Campbellians, a crazy terrorist cult that worships Bruce Campbell, all of the characters ever played by William Shatner are suddenly sucked into our world. Their mission: hunt down and destroy the real William Shatner.

Featuring: Captain Kirk, TJ Hooker, Denny Crane, Rescue 911 Shatner, Singer Shatner, Shakespearean Shatner, Twilight Zone Shatner, Cartoon Kirk, Esperanto Shatner, Priceline Shatner, SNL Shatner, and – of course – William Shatner!

Bizarro indeed. (via)

Star Trekkin’ in a Star Trek World

October 22nd, 2007 by Paula · No Comments

Don’t expect to see Jonathan Frakes back in a uniform ever again. He’s not impressed with how things progressed with the franchise.

For that matter, don’t expect to see William Shatner, either. Get a life, people!

We also get some weigh-in (and Heroes talk) from Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Walter Koenig.

Oh, the drama!

Video du Jour: -2 points for MySpace ref

September 27th, 2007 by Dunc · 1 Comment

Brad Paisley’s Online. It’s a country video featuring geek stereotypes. I’m sorry. But it is pretty funny, features William Shatner and mocks Trekkies. I think I also spotted a visual reference to Rocky Horror… (via Big Dumb Object and Deanna Hoak)
