NYCC: Dark Horse takes on the NJO with Invasion

News out of New York Comic Con! Dark Horse is launching a new ongoing series based in the New Jedi Order era, Invasion… It follows the Yuuzhan Vong and will feature main characters like Luke and Jacen. It’s scripted by Tom Taylor with art by Colin Wilson, and will launch with a web-only preview issue on StarWars.com in May. (via)

UPDATE: Dark Horse is not adding a another book; Rebellion is getting the ax and Invasion is replacing it. Check out a full report from NYCC’s Dark Horse panel at Newsarama.

Also coming up, Fixer. Um, okay. And a webcomic tie-in with The Old Republic.

April comics: Dark Times, Legacy, and more

In addition to the big Blood Oath reveal, last night brought us Dark Horse’s April solicitations. Included are the return of Dark Times; Knights of the Old Republic #40; Legacy #35 and The Clone Wars #5 (Slave girl outfits for everyone!) And lastly, the second Vector collection, including its run in Rebellion and Legacy. Don’t plan to skip this one if you’re following Legacy in trades!

Good news for Crimson Empire, Tales fans

In a video interview with CBR, Dark Horse founder Mike Richardson says that he and Randy Stradley “have started talking about revisiting the last chapter of Crimson Empire.” Comic fans have been waiting nearly a decade for that one. He also mentions retooling the second mini/graphic novel, Council of Blood, for “fixing all the stuff that got left out” due to possible prequel conflicts. There’s already a thread on the Dark Horse boards – perhaps Stradley will shed a bit more light on this soon? (Keep an eye on the Star Wars zone!)

Could that be the big project for 2009 that Sue hinted at a few weeks ago? Seems likely: It’s sure to get the fanboys all hot and bothered.

UPDATE: Not so, according to Stradley.

But! There’s also Star Wars Adventures, a new all-ages digest series teased in the letter column of the latest Rebellion. We don’t know much, but Jeremy Barlow is writing a story for it about Han and Chewbacca, and it’s slated to debut sometime next year. As someone who was rarely interested in the Dark Horse line until Star Wars Tales came around, I’ll be sure to nab Adventures.

Out this week: Coruscant Knights, Legacy, Rebellion/Vector, Knights of the Old Republic

Coruscant Nights: Street of ShadowsWow, is it time for Coruscant Nights: Street of Shadows already? The new Michael Reaves book should be in stores today. Also keep an eye out for The Dark Lord Trilogy trilogy, a trade omnibus that collects Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno, Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover, and Luceno’s Dark Lord.

Don’t worry, comic fans: There’s plenty for you on Wednesday. The much-anticipated Darth Wyyrlok-focused Legacy #27, Rebellion #16 aka Vector part 8, and the fourth Knights of the Old Republic trade, Daze of Hate, Knights of Suffering. Punny!
