Defacing classic art with Star Wars yet again

January 25th, 2009 by Dunc · 2 Comments

The Renaissance bit is pretty clearly a formality at this point (Dali, Whistler, & Hopper? Not even close!) but I’ll let it slide. Because who doesn’t love a Star Wars/fine art mashup? (via)

Eye Candy: Tilt-shift Star Wars

January 24th, 2009 by Dunc · No Comments

Bonnie ran a whole collection of photos through the Tilt Shift Maker, transforming the realistic into toy-like miniatures. Not surprisingly, the effect is particularly impressive when used on Stormtroopers!

Still owning the shame, now with Star Wars

November 3rd, 2008 by Dunc · 2 Comments

And this is where I admit I totally miss the Anakin-free days. In an alt tag.

So last time, the traffic killed his server, but now he’s back with the third and final installment… Plus Zahn.

The folly of youth: Let’s own our shame together

October 21st, 2008 by Dunc · 1 Comment

As I’m technically still reading the most shameful series of my adolescence, linking MGK Versus His Adolescent Reading Habits might very well be an act of supreme hypocrisy.

Oh well. I might still be an Expanded Universe fan (or am I?) but at least I never read The Wheel of Time. It’s a slim victory if anything, but I’ll take it. At least until I remember how many Melanie Rawn novels I own in hardcover.

UPDATE: But wait, there’s more!

Could spicing up Trek with a bit more Wars save the franchise?

October 12th, 2008 by Dunc · No Comments

Also on io9 (Weekend blogging now? Argh.) are a few suggestions for J.J. Abrams, who a week or two ago admitted he wanted to bring a little Star Wars pizzaz into Trek. (I’m sure the Trekkies just loved that.) In any case, io9 tables some suggestions, along with a bit of wholly unexpected photoshoppery.

JadeCon ’08: Newsblogging on hold. Maybe.

August 13th, 2008 by Dunc · 7 Comments

In what is either the best or worst timing ever, Club Jade will be gathering for our first JadeCon since 2006 starting in the morning. So, sorry to disappoint, but (serious) blogging may or may not resume until Thursday. Or maybe Monday. Tuesday? (I’ll try – but bet on nothistory agrees.) In the meantime, keep an eye on our pals at StarWars.com, TFN, EUC, and Lightsabre for actual news.

Or you can look at this:

JADECON BAYBEE!

I blame Yav.

Worth1000 does the movie mash

January 16th, 2008 by Dunc · No Comments

Worth1000′s latest PhotoShop contest ups the sci-fi quotient in movies that are decidedly not sci-fi. I, for one, mourn the lack of Steel Magnolias. It’s right there, people!

The Alexander entry is sheer perfection.
