Today’s Star Wars Books Facebook chat with Tim Zahn was… Well, a Star Wars Books Facebook chat, which means a lot of the same questions that Tim has been patiently answering over and over again on his own page. (Mara’s death, DFR/TLC reissues. ) A lot of them. But thankfully, a few other topics also got some play. (more…)

TFN talks to Timothy Zahn
October 29th, 2008 by Dunc · No Comments
TheForce.net has a brand-new interview with Tim Zahn, their first since 2000. He talks about Allegiance, Outbound Flight, his creative process, and of course, the ever-popular character deaths question.
The big news here may be that he’s writing a Terminator novel, From the Ashes, a prequel to next year’s Terminator Salvation movie.

From the Blogside
February 25th, 2006 by Dunc · Comments Off
Imadra_blue ponders fan fiction and fandom thinking and the two great loves of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life. She also considers Anakin/Obi-Wan, canon, and believability, an issue Shoiryu has some thoughts on as well.
Pablo mocks the masses with 1977 Blog Titles. If you actually read blogs.starwars.com, this is hilarious. On a more serious note, annotations to week 3 of the Rookies webstrip. Paul joins in on the webstrip action with a update on Evasive Action #3.
Another interesting VIP blog: Dan Wallace on the never-published Clone Wars Sourcebook.
Rabidfangurl rants on fanfic and fandom. To which I say, hell yeah. Fangirl beatdown posse meets on Tuesday.
The Dark Moose considers Star Wars… with lawyers. Been there, done that.
Rive Caedo on returning to the roots of Star Wars. On a similar note, 101 Reasons Firefly is better than Star Wars! Funny because it’s true. Or not. Your choice.
Lazypadawan has a ‘fair and balanced’ review of Outbound Flight. It looks like she subscribes to the theory that every second Zahn character is a Mary Sue, but I found most of her points pretty on target. (I myself have harbored Suerific thoughts re: Thrawn and VOTF Mara, so to each their own.) EU fans may also be interested in Suzanne’s overview of the Dark Nest trilogy.

Outbound Flight ETA: Now
January 31st, 2006 by Dunc · 1 Comment
By the time most of you read this, Tim Zahn’s Outbound Flight will be available in stores. There are several signings through the country in the next couple of weeks, and looks like there may be some printing problems, although it doesn’t sound like anything fatal.

Dark Nest and Outbound Flight
June 5th, 2005 by Dunc · 2 Comments
Catalog descriptions for the entire Dark Nest trilogy have appeared on the starwars.com boards and confirmed as correct by Sue Rostoni. She also posted a short excerpt from the pages of The Unseen Queen. In the hopes of keeping this post brief, I’m just going to link you the post I made in Livejournal’s EU community to actually read all the stuff.
In other news, Paula noticed on the CJ list that the release date for Dark Lord was actually supposed to be for Tim Zahn’s Outbound Flight. The date swap has also been confirmed by Rostoni, so expect new Zahn in January 2006.

Outbound Flight
March 23rd, 2005 by Dunc · Comments Off
I don’t know how I missed this last night, but starwars.com has posted a first look at Zahn’s next Star Wars novel. It’s the hardcover release for October.
With the foiling of a murderous plot, C’baoth gained the influence he needed to get Outbound Flight underway. In truth, this turn of fortune was carefully engineered by Darth Sidious, the shadowy Sith Lord who wants Outbound Flight to begin, and ultimately, to fail.
The mission is doomed from the start, for lurking within Unknown Space is the Chiss Ascendancy, and the brilliant alien mastermind who will someday become Grand Admiral Thrawn. Not even the presence of Obi-Wan Kenobi and his young Padawan learner, Anakin Skywalker, aboard the gargantuan vessel can avert disaster.

Not so, I lie!
December 4th, 2004 by Dunc · Comments Off
Two EU items on starwars.com tonight – an interview with Sean Stewart about his Yoda novel, Dark Rendezvous, and the March comics preview.
Elsewhere on the site, Sue Rostoni gives us this preview of Zahn’s Outbound Flight novel:
The manuscript is in to Del Rey. Shelly is reading it now and will get it to me soon. So far we’re sticking with Star Wars: The Outbound Dark Flight. Or maybe just Dark Flight. Starring Darth Flight and her apprentice, Dark Fight. They try to convert the Jedi on the Outbound Dark Flight by ramming them with their ship, The Dark Fright, and throwing hoods over the Jedi. But just as Darth Flight begins to ram the Dark Flight, night falls (in dark space) and they miss. The Jedi escape under cover of darkness only to be met by Admiral Darkthrawn’a darknu. That’s when the story turns really dark. Stay tuned.
Yes, it’s a joke. Like the book’s gonna be anything less than 80 proof Thrawn.
