Oscar Isaac on finishing up Star Wars with John Boyega

In yet another interview, Oscar Isaac talks about how Episode IX was the most fun (again) but also does some heavy lifting for Finn/Poe (or Finn & Poe, however you care to read it):

I think the one thing I can say [about Star Wars: Episode IX] is that it has been the most fun for me, particularly working with John Boyega because we have just had so much more to do together and we just really connected in a great way. It was really a wonderful way to finish it for me because John was the first person I met right when I screen-tested. It was just with me and him. So it just felt like a real full-circle thing.

We do have some illicit evidence (by which I mean possible spoilers) that points towards their adventure.

Oscar Isaac: Episode IX “the most fun it’s been,” people will be “blown away”

The Associated Press caught up with Oscar Isaac at the premiere of his film Triple Frontier, and he talked a little about Episode IX.

“It was the most fun it’s been,” he said. “There was just an energy, a looseness, an excitement to the whole production. And knowing that this was the conclusion of not only our time there, but the nine stories, these nine episodes of the Skywalker saga, it’s incredible. I think people are just gonna be blown away.”

Episode IX wraps, Abrams shares a cast hug

As Episode IX wraps filming, director J.J. Abrams shares his second set shot from the film – and this time, it’s in focus! Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac – in costume – share a hug on location – presumably Jordan.

“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX,” the tweet says. “There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”

Oscar Isaac might dad it up in the new Dune

Oscar Isaac may be headed to another space opera – Denis Villeneuve’s new adaptation of Dune. Variety reports that he’s entered early negotiations to play Duke Leto Atreides, father of protagonist Paul Atreides, who’s being played by Timothee Chalamet. Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, and Charlotte Rampling are also among the cast.

This will be the third major adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel. David Lynch made the first movie in 1984, while the then-Sci-Fi Channel made it into a 2000 miniseries. (They also adapted sequels Dune Messiah and Children of Dune in a second miniseries in 2003.)

Another familiar Star Wars name, author Kevin J. Anderson, is serving as creative consultant on the film. He wrote several Dune novels with Brian Herbert.

Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams on Episode IX filming in Jordan

Although there have been numerous reports – and even social media posts from the likes of John Boyega (mostly via Instagram stories) and Oscar Isaac’s wife Elvira Lind – we finally have some comments from higher up the food chain. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams both talked to Roya News about Jordan’s Wadi Rum:

“Wadi Rum is breathtakingly beautiful and the perfect location for our film,” says Abrams. “I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to shoot in Jordan. Between the warm welcome from the government and the dedication and hard work of the local film professionals, we couldn’t have had a better experience. We are enormously grateful.”

Producer Kathleen Kennedy said “I also want to thank the Royal Film Commission Jordan, and the Army, whose tremendous support has been invaluable, and helped make this shoot possible.”

Other than Boyega and Isaac (and maybe Anthony Daniels,) the cast has been mainly mum on who exactly is out in Jordan. There are fuzzy photos that may indicate at least one other cast member joined them, but they’re hardly conclusive.

There’s plenty of speculation on what Jordan means for the story – understandably, a return to Jakku is a common theory – but it’s interesting that Daniels’ tweet implies it may be standing in for more than one. Curious.

Domhnall Gleeson knows “everything” on Episode IX, and he’s terrified

They’re filming Episode IX, but Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac both have movies coming out (The Little Stranger and Operation Finale) and are making the press rounds. They can’t say much about IX, obviously, but there are a few things of note, plus a check-in with Keri Russell and Dominic Monaghan.

Episode IX filming spotted; Fun with Finn and Poe?

We’ve seen the Falcon now, but how about Finn, Poe and Chewbacca? The Sun has some spy pics of John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Joonas Suotamo filming with some other actors/extras “just a few miles outside of London.” Unlike yesterday’s spotting, this one could be considered actually spoilery, so don’t click through if that sort of thing matters to you.

Of course, this being the Sun, there’s also some blathering about Ewan McGregor, who is probably not in this one. (Well, maybe. It’s a big maybe.)

Some observations below the cut.
