Nice idea, but their suggestion of Peter Jackson is a bit much. (I mean, really? REALLY? Did no one see his King Kong? Lord of the Rings is one thing, but no giant gorilla movie has any right to go on that long.)

Since it’s Monday after a holiday weekend, I figure we might as well just shrug it off with some cute: the Yoda Bot, Princess Leia Bot and Chewbacca from Bolts and Bots. Check their blog, Etsy, or Flickr for more bot creations.

It was inevitable… Hot Chicks With Stormtroopers, AKA a nicer take off of internet ‘sensation’ Hot Chicks with Douchbags, or as we like to call it in this fandom… No, sorry. Too easy. (Speaking of douchebags, io9′s weekend commentators are certainly doing their darnedest. Bravo, gentlemen.)

• Lists. Leia is #6 on Total Sci-Fi’s list of the top sci-fi women.

• Horrors of mass merchandising: Gizmodo is not particularly impressed with this Jabba the Hutt costume.
• Roleplaying: Analog Gamer encourages RPGers to take to the Legacy era.

It’s art! Or not. No. Just no. Clone Wars character design, I know McQuarrie, and you sir are no McQuarrie. On the other hand, Christian Waggoner’s stuff is kinda cool.

Let them eat slime. This Jabba cake is appropriately disgusting yet totally hand-made. Pretty impressive.

Don’t strain yourself.Is Star Wars science fiction or fantasy? It’s sci-fantasy. Duh.

Listicles. Princess Leia is one of Yahoo’s lethal ladies; The prequels bottom out io9′s list of science fiction prequels, beating out even You-Know-Who’s Dune books on their scale of crappiness. Ouch.

• OMG PONIES! Mari Kasurinen has added three new Star Wars figures to her custom My Little Pony gallery: A farmboy Luke, slave Leia, and Han in carbonite.

• Technology: An impressive Artoo casemod made with a trash can and a mere $120 in additional parts.
• Crafts: The Darth Vader hula girl. I always knew he had it in him.

Scrap the Maker? The relaunched Sci-Fi Wire (now in blog form!) has come up with nine reasons for George Lucas to retire already. Cinematical then made a poll out of it, and ‘yes, please’ is winning. Your thoughts? I honestly don’t care all that much as long as he sticks to the prequel/intertrilogy era.

• 501st: The Heart of an Empire documentary is now available on DVD.

• Fanmade: Check out this homemade Princess Leia outfit for Barbie, complete with bun hat!
• Wait, what? Obi-Wan (Guinness version) is one of Idol Chatter’s top ten Jewish movie characters. I don’t see it, but okay.
• Ballot-stuffing time: Han Solo and Boba Fett are up MTV’s Greatest Badass Search. Who to vote for? Well, only one of them exited stage left by falling down a tentacle hole, and the other one is played by the same guy as Indiana Jones. Or, Darth Vader. Your choice.
• Merchandise: The retail season of Valentine’s Day is night, so of course there are Clone Wars and Indy IV valentines.

On Thursday’s 30 Rock, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) dressed up as Princess Leia, put on a wacky accent, and claimed to be able to “read thoughts,” all to get out of jury duty.

I’m pretty sure it’s a hell of a lot easier than that – when I was called a few years back, they dismissed a guy in his early 20′s for basically wearing his nametag upside down. Or maybe it was the Young Jedi Knights book he was reading. Whatever – I ended up having to put in six days on that jury. Sigh.

A limited edition print of Leia in the style of the 80′s favorite artist, Patrick Nagel. Honestly? I’m a little creeped out, and find myself with a strange urge for a corned beef sandwich. (Back in the 80′s, my parent’s favorite deli had a Nagel theme.)
