You’ve probably already heard the collective cry of anguish from worshippers of The Whedon, but let’s make sure you’re caught up. Yes. Hollywood is planning a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Okay. Stop laughing.
Okay. Don’t stop laughing. Joss has responded in his typical Whedeonesque fashion in an e-mail to E! Online:
This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.
Personally, I hope he goes for that reboot of Batman entitled: The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto.

Not only did the fifty-six page Serenity: The Shepherd’s Tale hit comic book stores last week (and mine is on back order), delving into Book’s past, everyone in the ‘Verse get a small treat this week: Dark Horse and USA Today have an 8-page comic, Serenity: Downtime up – today just has the first four pages, but the story will continue tomorrow. Joss and Zack Whedon scripted the book on Shepherd Book, while Zack flies solo with the story for ‘Downtime’.

Someone got stabbed with a pen in Hall H this evening; There’s a report from San Diego’s NBC affiliate and Comic Book Resources and Entertainment Weekly are on the case. (Harrison Ford is not a suspect.) The rumors have been flying over Twitter, including allegations that seat-squatting (a common practice) was a factor.

Star Wars fans are familiar with the sad time of little official activity. (Remember the Dark Times?)
So Bart tells us that some Browncoats, not ones to sit around and wait for the occasional awesome comic, are making their own story to bide the time called Browncoats: Redemption. In order to avoid painful imitations of beloved characters, they’re creating an all new crew.
And to keep this in the spirit of Browncoats, they’re going to be collecting for charity, including: Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, Dyslexia Foundation, the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, and the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation.
Good luck to them!

Clearly, Patton Oswalt is a man obsessed with Firefly. (And I so understand that!)
He talks with Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming Firefly comic “Float Out.”
I like him. In this article, it is clear he totally gets the Joss Whedon vibe. But you’ll have to wait until June to read it!

E! Online reports that Joss Whedon and Morgan Spurlock (director of Super Size Me) are teaming up to create a documentary about diehard fans as they gear up, geek out, and attend Comic-Con. Although if they are looking for fans to follow around, they’d better put out a casting call soon.

io9′s Graeme McMillan put an interesting post up this weekend on the cycle of how fans deal with canceled shows. However, the most interesting part is actually from SyFy’s Craig Engler on why the former Sci-Fi Channel doesn’t pick up network cast-offs. (They cost too much, of course.)

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, and Entertainment Weekly confirmed… Dollhouse has been cancelled by Fox. The network will air the remaining episodes in December. Here’s Joss Whedon’s statement on Whedonesque:
I don’t have a lot to say. I’m extremely proud of the people I’ve worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you’ll agree in the coming months. I’m grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.
I’m off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I’ve read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you’ll know what my next project is. But for now there’s a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.
Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j.
Whedonesque is arranging a thank you to the cast and crew.

The Doctor gets spiffed up for new season. As if Flopsy McEmohair wasn’t enough of a change, the BBC has unveiled a new logo/branding for Doctor Who. It’s a tad sophomore-year design project, but I kinda dig it.
Second verse, same as the first. Dollhouse is in trouble! How novel! The campaign is thataway.
Ride into Westeros. Horse-riding extras are needed in Northern Ireland for HBO’s A Game of Thrones later this month.
