Three nods for sci-fi in the 2007 Online Video Awards.

- Sanctuary won for Original Web Drama Series.
- Star Trek: The New Voyages won for Sci-Fi Webisodes.
- And Heroes won for Best TV Show Site.

This is shaping up to be an odd TV season. Things are good. (Many new attempts at genre shows.) Things are bad. (Writers’ strike.)

- After a strong start Bionic Woman is on life support.

- However, Chuck (okay…not technically sci-fi, but still geeky) is picking up steam; even while Heroes struggles.

- And why is Heroes struggling? Well, producer Tim Kring is admitting to making some mistakes with how this season’s story is unfolding. (I’m still enjoying it, but there are some valid points.)

- Lost fans have some happy and not-so-happy news as the season will start, but the writers’ strike will mean that it will abruptly stop.

Let us bow our heads at the (hopefully temporary) passing of the planned Heroes spin-off Origins.

Okay. The writers and the studios are having some “issues.” But did they have to kill a shiny new Heroes show? ::sigh::

In the meantime, E!’s Kristin has some interesting tidbits about upcoming happenings in this season of Heroes. Spoil at your own risk.

Geez. How many people are going to be in this movie?

Apparently, Captain Pike is going to be in the upcoming Star Trek movie with Josh Lucas being rumored as in the running. (Insert comment about his great abs here.)

In other Trek Talk, Nichelle Nichols is an object of awe on the Heroes set. (I can totally understand that.)

And let’s all give out a yell for KHAAAAAN at the 2007 Scream Awards in which they celebrated the 25th anniversary of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Don’t expect to see Jonathan Frakes back in a uniform ever again. He’s not impressed with how things progressed with the franchise.

For that matter, don’t expect to see William Shatner, either. Get a life, people!

We also get some weigh-in (and Heroes talk) from Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Walter Koenig.

Oh, the drama!

There was a conference call from the Heroes set. That means all sorts of fun coverage coming up, I’m sure.

First items out of the gate:
- Why yes, you will get to meet the people in the picture.

- And are we surprised that self-professed geek, Kristen Bell, campaigned to get on the show while at San Diego Comic-Con? I wasn’t either. Wouldn’t you?

George Takei talks to Entertainment Weekly about Heroes S2. It contains at least one very big spoiler for last night’s season premiere, so TIVOing cave-dwellers beware.
