Kunochan.com’s top twenty starship captains. Both Han Solo and Grand Moff Tarkin (O RLY?) make the list, but I’m mostly tickled by the inclusion of Turanga Leela. Futurama: awesome animated sci-fi show, or most awesome animated sci-fi show?
What a week for lists…

One fan creates a Bender for Beer Brewing, just like in the Futurama episode ‘The Route of all Evil.’ Bender himself would no doubt approve! (Thanks, Bonnie!)

SDCC: The final roundup
July 30th, 2007 by Dunc · Comments Off
I did not regret not going to Comic-Con until I heard this: They showed a Futurama trailer. Why is it not online? This is so unfair.
You changed the outcome by measuring it!
- The New York Times deigns to recognize SDCC.
- Kevin Smith will direct a Heroes: Origins episode.
- TOSblog reports on Blade Runner.
- Hey Buffy fans, remember Ripper? It may live after all.
- Disney is going to take on all of Narnia – starting with Prince Caspian they plan to release one a year. Um, good luck with that.
- Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are making a Sweeney Todd movie? Why did I not know this?
- Seth Rogan talks about Green Hornet
- Official Watchmen website launches
- There was some smuggled Iron Man footage, but Youtube
copyright violationedated it right before I posted. Take some transcript instead.
Trailers and such
- Captain Obvious narrates the extended preview of The Golden Compass. (Be sure to choose the second option, under the video.) It seems that the Children of Dune soundtrack is in vogue again…
- The Dark Knight photo plus teaser. Emphasis on the tease.

Movie news: Trek, comic books and trailers
July 24th, 2007 by Dunc · 1 Comment
Is Sylar-Spock reality after all? E!’s Kristin thinks so… We’ll find out for sure at Comic-Con, where reports are that J.J. Abrams plans to announce his Trek casting
Also…
- Is the relationship between Paramount and Dreamworks on the rocks?
- First look at Beowulf. Do I smell an uncanny valley?
- Cinematical digs up details on the upcoming Futurama movies. WANT.
- Naomi Watts confirmed to play Narcissa Malfoy?
- Stanley Tucci in negotiations to play villian in Jackson’s The Lovely Bones adaption.
Age of the comic book movies
- Finally, schlubby fanboys get a comic hero they can truly understand: Seth Rogen is in negotiations to write and star in The Green Hornet.
- They’re making a Y: The Last Man movie? I gotta dig out those TPBs…
- Hillary Swank makes Iron Man cameo. Also confirmed: the Samuel L. Jackson/Nick Fury cameo.
- Is Rome’s Ray Stevenson the new Punisher? Much better choice than the last guy.
- Maggie Gyllenhaal aims to take The Dark Knight’s Rachel Dawes up a notch.
- Todd McFarlane wants to reboot Spawn on film. Dude, the 90′s are over. Accept it.
Trailer park
- The Darjeeling Limited. Wes Anderson film starring his regulars, as well as Adrien Brody and Natalie Portman. (She’s not in the trailer, though.)
- The Last Legion. Colin Firth, Romans, Excalibur, melodrama, etc. Highlight looks to be Aishwarya Rai with a sword.

Holy copyright infringement, Batman! It’s Turkish Star Wars (Complete with ripped-off ANH footage, and keeping with that theme, I think I saw an old-school Cylon as well.) Also on Youtube, a very painful training scene And there’s a sequel! More information on the films at Cinematical, with more video at iFilm. (Video via Bonnie)
Songvid alert! Captain Jack is bringing the sexy back. Aspect ratio is off, but I don’t care.
Futurama returns! It’s in ur house, drinking ur beers.
Remember the Vector Prime commercial? Ha ha.
G4′s X-Play hits Star Wars again with an Imperial Press conference and the Rebel shopping network.

My manwich!
January 4th, 2006 by Dunc · Comments Off
Matt Groening and folks are in talks to bring the Futurama back from the dead. Long overdue, folks – long overdue. If syndication and endless nights of Adult Swim have taught me nothing else, it’s that the already-resurrected Family Guy just doesn’t hold up for multiple viewing, while Futurama just gets better and better. Plus, their Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory riff was actually funny.

Not a contest.
