Bad news, folks – The Essential Atlas release date has moved from February to July. Still confident we’ll see it… eventually. (Thanks for the heads-up, Zee Zee!)

• Fate of the Jedi: Sue Rostoni says the covers will be similar to the Rebel Force covers… I can’t say I find that encouraging, with the Rebel Force covers being the epitome of bland. But maybe not being able to directly copy movie-era stills will lend the format some oomph.

• The Old Republic: MMO game fighting will be “choreographed.” Like in West Side Story? Because that would be awesome.

Over at RandomHouse.com, there’s a new release date for Dan Wallace and Jason Fry’s The Essential Atlas – February 25, 2009. (It was previously in for this September.) On the plus side, we learn that it will total 256 pages, just a tad heftier than Wallace’s New Essential Chronology.

In a less dramatic move, the Death Star paperback jumped forward two weeks to a November 25 release… Our book release schedule has been updated thusly.

TOS gives us a first look at ETA on The Essential Atlas from Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace. And we have a release date: June 2008. The Wookieepedians must be drooling…

Dan Wallace, having just submitted the first draft, reveals a bit and a tad about the upcoming Essential Atlas.

Looks like the big announcements from the Star Wars publishing panel was not only the anticipated Star Wars Atlas by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, but also new edition of the Star Wars Encyclopedia from Steve Sansweet and Pablo Hidalgo. There have been rumblings about the latter, but I believe this is the first official word on the matter. Both books are due out in 2008.

The Comic Con schedule was released yesterday, and TFN makes note of the Star Wars book panel, which promises:

Keith Clayton (editor, Del Rey) will reveal an exclusive announcement on an upcoming Star Wars title from Del Rey and LucasBooks, just for audience members at Comic-Con!

Very likely not a novel, but certainly could be interesting. Fans are theorizing that it could be the soft-confirmed Atlas of the Star Wars Galaxy.
