Jawajames has been out and about in his Bounty Hunt duties, and caught George Lucas walking the con floor before it opened Friday morning. With the Big Event nearly upon us (reports are that it’s already “insane,”) we all have early call times so I’m trying to make this quick.

(Volunteering and blogging is not a good combo. Though if you stop by the StarWars.com booth and talk to one of the orange shirts there this weekend, there’s a good chance it’ll be Eliz or I, and we have bracelets. Or just come to Fandom in 140 on Sunday, hint hint.)

• StarWars.com has some day one stuff, including the 2010 Fan Movie Challenge Winners, Dark Horse (guess I need to believe the Crimson Empire 3 thing now,) Hasbro and the ever-popular video highlights. Their blog has some costume shots, with more coming in on Flickr.

• EU Cantina was at today’s Clone Wars and Old Republic panel, not to mention their own on the Atlas.

Now that is dedication. Anyone will to walk around in stilts after a couple of beers has my respect.

StarWars.com documents the disposable costumes of the 70′s and 80′s. We might forget the graphics, but we’ll never forget the smell of those masks.

StarWars.com’s Bonnie Burton has a guest-post up over at io9 with a variety of tips and tricks for DIY Star Wars costumes from all around the internet.

I’ve always been fond of the quick and easy Jedi robe. Sure, it won’t get you into the Rebel Legion or anything, but it’s easy and instantly recognizable, and what more does one really need out of a Halloween getup? (And if you pair it with some of those old-school printable masks, like Yoda up there, actually kinda creepy.)

The Lucasfilm/ILM Halloween party always scares up some good photo oppurtunies, and this year looks to be no different. Bonnie shared a bunch of pics via Twitter last night, and now they’re up on the blog and her Flickr for further perusal.

Rebelscum will start accepting entries for their costume contest tomorrow through November 2nd.

Star Wars Shop has a bunch of standard original trilogy costumes – your cheapie Hans, Lukes, and stormtroopers and et cetera – but perhaps the most horrifying? The Jabba costume. What self-respecting adult would wear this in real life? Sadly, I’m pretty sure there are several of you out there. And I demand photos.

Though I have to love that they picked the lost Backstreet Boy to model Luke, and one of the Hardy Boys for Han.
