The fandom minute is not celebrating an Ewokiversary

eat or be eatenBitchin’ Endor. You’re sure to get a kick out of today’s most famous Star Wars eBay listing, i hate this stupid ewok. On that note, this is apparently the 25th anniversary of the debut of the first Ewok movie, Caravan of Courage. I’m sure everyone was all waiting breathlessly for that one back in the day.

Celeb fans. Bonnie talks Star Wars (and The Guild and Dr. Horrible and such) with geek of note Felicia Day.

Contests. Hasbro has picked the winner of their diorama contest.

Charity. The Seattle Area Lucasfilm Artifact Collectors Club, aka SARLACC, are selling a collectible lapel pin to raise money for cancer research.

What. Device to subdue rampaging elephants inspired by Empire Strikes Back? Sure, why not.

My first inkling of this was a tweet from Lucasfilm’s Leland Chee (@HolocronKeeper,) who also confirmed that a (licensed) lightsaber Wii remote will soon be available. Okay, so the Wii thing is old news, but my memory isn’t what it used to be… At least not for game peripherals.

Get out your crayons and your pencils…

Are you under the age of 12 and enjoy coloring or know someone who is?  If so, LFL artist Cynthia Cummens-Narcisi is hosting a contest just for you!  Print out (no digital art allowed) and get cracking on this adorable picture of Yoda and R2.  Scan in your results and submit it to the contest.  Cynthia is giving away iTunes gift cards to the winners!  Contest is closed on February 13th at 6 PM EST.  If school is closed due to the weather in your neighborhood, this would be a great way to entertain your little Jedi!

It’s Friday and The Clone Wars is back

As for the fannish side of things, the ForceCast has Kevin Rubio and a ‘Bombad Jedi’ roundtable. Plus, the Galactic Senate message boards are holding a Clone Wars fanfic contest, with actual prizes and everything. (via)

A TIE Fighter with Starbucks DNA

Dan Winters's Starbucks TIENo, this has nothing to do with Battlestar Galactica, it’s a TIE Fighter made by Wired’s Dan Winters out of nonperishable stuff easily found at a local Starbucks coffee shop:

He used nearly 50 ‘Bucks cups and a crazy number of stirrers to build this, the coolest TIE Fighter ever. “The ribbing on the drink holders reminded me of solar panels,” Winters says. “That instantly registered ‘TIE fighter’ in my head.”
