Star Wars Miniland opens at Legoland California

Last Thursday, Legoland California opened up their Star Wars area in Miniland with some big fanfare. The official ribbon cutting was done by Princess Leia herself, Carrie Fisher, and Carson Weiner, a young Star Wars fan representing the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Also on hand for the celebration were James Arnold Taylor and Catherine Taber of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and about 60 costumed members of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion. Other VIPs included skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and “Wait, I was in Star Trek not Star Wars” Christian Slater and Dancing with the Stars‘ Brooke Burke.

Clone Wars goes Notorious with ‘Senate Spy’ tonight!

Tonight’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode may not be battle heavy, but will show the war from a different point of view: politics, espionage, and romance (?) as Padme goes undercover to investigate a senator who’s also an old love interest. Catherine Taber shares with starwars.com on Padmé’s allegiances to the Republic and to her husband, and on her Alfred Hitchcock homework from Dave Filoni.

Newsarama puts up the conclusion of their Dave Filoni interview about season 2 and making the show. In brief: More independent episodes, a broader view of the war, more clone-centric episodes, no Yoda-centric episodes, Corey Burton does awesome villain voices, etc.

The show is proving its success with posts of double-digit gains in kid demographics from this time last year, according to tvbythenumbers.com. The younglings, especially boys, are watching.

Meanwhile, Forcecast.net has a roundtable discussion on last week’s ‘Children of the Force.’

SDCC ’09 roundup: And thanks for all the fish

Fannishly. StarWars.com continues their Fan Movie winner profiles with Star Wars: Retold (yay!) and Star Sports. They also round up their picks for best Star Wars costumes (play spot the Jader in this one) and best costumes.

Videos. Big Shiny Robot caght up with Clone Wars voice actors Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka,) Dee Bradley Baker (OMG MOMO, uhh, he voices the clones) and Catherine Taber (Padme.)

Muggs. Empire Muggs back profiles of Dave Filoni, Cat Staggs, Robot Chicken’s Rebecca Van Cleve and Adam Koford. And thr auction is on now, with one or two figures currently fetching up to $425. (Most are still much lower.)
