Drive-by movie news: Is it the end for Narnia? Thundercats ho! NPH’s Indy; Twilight

BBC's Dawn TreaderDisney gives Narnia the boot. Well, it’s official – Disney has decided not to adapt the third Narnia book, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, for “budgetary and logistical reasons.” (Prince Caspian wasn’t exactly a flop, but it didn’t take in nearly as much as Lion.) That’s not to say all is lost – Walden Media is shopping around for a new partner.

Really do hope that Dawn Treader gets made – I can take or leave the rest of the series, but it’s my favorite. In the meantime, you can find the old BBC productions pretty cheap on DVD. The production values may not be as good, but I thought they were pretty neat as a kid!

  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I DEMAND MORE BEN BARNES. Maybe they’ll be better off if they hook up with someone other than Disney anyway… I have trouble imagining Walden and its very deep-pocketed owner would let it not get made at all.

  2. Still haven’t seen the New Prince Caspian yet. I’m pretty dedicated to the BBC versions and found Disney’s take kind of a let down. Of course, I’ve come to despise epic CGI battle scenes on principle.

  3. There’s a rumor going around that Ben Barnes is going to play Aro in New Moon the Movie.

  4. Those “no spoilers” commenters at Bitch! I’ve been reading Bitch for eight years or so now, and the shtick — listed on the cover — is Feminist Analysis of Pop Culture. I have never expected spoiler warnings because it is nearly impossible to analyze well without giving something away.
