Both Lying in the Gutters and SF Crowsnest are calling Eleven for Paterson Joseph, who has been considered a leading contender for the role. He is reportedly the favorite of new showrunner Steven Moffat, and would be the series’ first black Doctor.

Joseph did play a bit part in Series 1, but as anyone who remembers Hercules and Xena will tell you, that rarely matters.
