Naked Harry not a factor

Daniel Radcliffe going the full monty on Broadway in Equus was not the reason for the postponement of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. At least according to a statement from Warner Bros. President and Chief Operating Officer Alan Horn. Whatever the reason, it still stinks.

  1. Why is everyone doubting WB’s explanation? They want to make more money, and (shocker!) summer movies make more money. Plus it allows the DVD to be released for the Christmas shopping season. Win-win.

  2. If looking for an unlikely reason, I buy the Watchmen law suit conspiracy more than the naked Harry conspiracy.

  3. Didn’t naked Radcliffe debut in London ages ago? If we’re going the conspiracy route, I’m with Pablo.

Hrm. I need to do a movie roundup.

  4. … Did people think it would be a factor? It’s been scheduled for well over a year and he’s already done it in London. Our boy is hardly shy, after all. It didn’t even occur to me. The $$ explanation is a lot more obvious.

  5. Although I guess Warner thought it sounded like it might be plausible? You’d think they’d rather be thought prudes than capitalist swine; it’s hard to guess which trait carries more political currency in the U.S. these days.

  6. I didn’t even realize there was a conspiracy around this. I had heard it was delayed due to union and SFX issues.

    Don’t you just love fandom?
