Why Alderaan was a such peaceful planet…

Okay, so it’s been a few years since I saw the When Science Meets Imagination exhibit, but does anyone else ever spot a Star Wars poster and a Playboy centerfold in the cockpit of the Tantive IV? Or is it Photoshop? Will we ever know?

The photo is from a collection by Flickr user Women, Fire & Dangerous Things (Note the user icon) from the opening of the exhibit in Philadelphia.

Well, if it’s the original model, then how would there have been a Star Wars poster when they made that model?

Mischiveous modelmakers decorated the interior of the cockpit with a nude pin-up, which of course is not visible in the finished film.

It really is in there; I didn’t photoshop it. The visual effects by ILM were among the last things completed for the film. Principal photography had wrapped and lots of publicity work had been completed, including an early version of that poster, when the model was built.

    Thanks for the plug!
