Posterwire reports that artist John Alvin has passed away. He did quite a bit of Star Wars work, including the Celebration IV poster. His art also graced posters for E.T., Blade Runner, Alien, Willow, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

RIP. He was one of the last great marketing artists who understood that less is more.
