Smackdown is on because SyFy is is owned by NBC Universal, who also own USA (which features Friday Night Raw) and it’s a ratings winner.
No other reason, other than they cross-pollinate the shows with wrestling (sorry, can’t say wrestling anymore, ‘spuerstar’ and ‘Diva’) guest stars.
Plus, it’s a cheap show to produce with high returns in ratings.
