New blurb for Fate of the Jedi: Ascension

The Random House digital catalog has a new – and probably final – summary for Christie Golden’s Ascension, the eighth Fate of the Jedi novel. (via) Being a full blurb, I’ve black-barred it… Highlight to read.

How long can the Jedi remain in power?
How far will the Sith go to rule supreme?
What chance do both stand against Abeloth?

As Luke and Ben Skywalker pursue the formidable dark-side being Abeloth, the Lost Tribe of the Sith is about to be sundered by an even greater power—which will thrust one Dark Lord into mortal conflict with his own flesh-and-blood.

On Coruscant, a political vacuum has left tensions at the boiling point, with factions racing to claim control of the Galactic Alliance. Suddenly surrounded by hidden agendas, treacherous conspiracies, and covert Sith agents, the Jedi Order must struggle to keep the GA government from collapsing into anarchy.

The Jedi are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring just rule, but even they are not prepared to take on the combined threats of Sith power, a deposed dictator bent on galaxywide vengeance, and an entity of pure cunning and profound evil hungry to become a god.

Ascension is due out in hardcover on August 16.

  1. Thanks, Club Jade! You are all over the latest news – as always!

This seems to be a more interesting blurb than most in recent memory. I may be reading between the lines too much but it gave me a few ideas on where certain characters other than L/B, H/L, the Sith, Vestara, and the Jedi Order might be heading.

    If I had to guess, galactic upheaval on this many fronts has to involve everyone I want to see, except the one woman we all miss. :{

Green lightsaber… good! Red lightsaber… bad!
Honestly, those are creepy lines, juxtaposed like that… O_o ‘No Jedi shall fry anyone like a moth on a bug zapper… if they do it with Dark intent.’

“As Luke and Ben Skywalker pursue the formidable dark-side being Abeloth, the Lost Tribe of the Sith is about to be sundered by an even greater power—which will thrust one Dark Lord into mortal conflict with his own flesh-and-blood.”
:o Who could it be? Gavar Khai isn’t a Dark Lord, so… new character? (And didn’t we go through this already in LOTF?)

“a deposed dictator bent on galaxywide vengeance, ”
Daala returns to her roots! :)

This is a MUCH better blurb than the ones before. Thanks for posting it!

  3. SPOILER ALERT!

I know it isn’t right to say it but I’m just glad Kenth Hamner is gone. I never liked the character and he always seemed… extraneous?… is that the right word? It feels like it is. Yeah… yeah, I’m going with extraneous.
