Post-ROTJ animated show? Hold your horses.

So the internet (or at least what I’ve caught in my box-surrounded haze) has been buzzing about this bit out of Sansweet’s presentation at C2E2, as reported by IGN:

During the Q&A section of the panel, a fan said, “I would really love to see new adventures after Jedi with our favorite characters Luke, Han and Leia,” to which Sansweet replied, “And you will, in the new animation.”

Sansweet told the Forcecast that he’s “in the dark,” but guesses that the comedy show may be “a mix” of the different eras. Stand down, canon savants: For one, it’s too early to tell, and for another IT’S THE COMEDY SHOW. Save your dignity and keep the pearl-clutching in reserve.

As for the comedy show and the ‘Squishies’ rumor, Sansweet did imply there is a connection, but said “How it develops, we don’t know.”

  1. I’m just excited that there’s talk about Blu-Ray! Yays!

As for Squishies, that can’t be a serious title. (Surely.) But the man knows kids. Creating a cartoon for them would not be a dumb move.

  2. I agree, it wouldn’t surprise me if they created a show even more child oriented than TCW.

However, if this new comedy show is going to be “a mix” of eras, what will make it any different than the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials?

I know I’m probably gonna get bashed for this, but I think it’d be interesting to see more of a sitcom, in one era, that can actually fit into the established canon nicely. Somewhere along the lines of Everybody Loves Raymond or Malcolm in the Middle, as long as it didn’t focus on main characters, like the original press report stated.

  3. I hate to say it, but I reported pretty much the exact same Blu-ray news from the exact same source in July of 2009….

It’s funny how stuff like this gets passed around as new news…
