There’s a Youtube comment (!) that that mentions Lynch might have been better suited for Revenge of the Sith. I can see that: Imagine the dream sequence! (via)

Great statement by Lynch. Though it leaves me wondering, as it always has since I first heard about Lynch having been asked to to Jedi, what Lucas expected Lynch to do with Star Wars. If he already had the story and the ewoks and all that, why even ask Lynch? Of course it is possible that Lynch wasn’t being asked by George the blockbuster inventor, but rather by George the guy who has promised to return to his “little, esoteric films” since the summer of 1977.
And BTW: Still would love to see “SW – The Spielberg Version”. Wouldn’t it be great if Lucas started production of a little anthology of SW films to be directed by all his friends? Kind of like Gotham Knight or the Animatrix? Imagine the possibilities… A Scorcese Star Wars… Wow! :-)
