    From the article:

“The article states that this physical production unit never made the move to the Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco.”

And then, in the next paragraph:

“So if ILM never made the move to the Letterman center, and the physical unit is going to be based in San Rafael, that begs the question: Where is the digital arm of ILM going to work out of?”

Uh, that’s a bit of a jump, isn’t it? He didn’t reference the specific Variety article to which he was referring, but if it’s the one I think it is (“ILM parts with prod’n unit”, June 13, 2006, as seen on StarWars.com Hyperspacee), it only says that the production unit didn’t move to Letterman, it says nothing about whether or not the digital arm of ILM moved.

Like you said — big, heaping grains of salt. :)

You forgot his secret source. ;)

And I actually, I was thinking about that later… and I thought ILM did move to the Presidio? I remember them talking about the tech and/or computer banks when it opened, and specifically mentioning ILM and the vast amount of computing power they use…

    And what I find now:
    http://www.lucasfilm.com/press/presidiopreview/index.html?page=2

“The Letterman Digital Arts Center is the new San Francisco home of Lucasfilm Ltd., Industrial Light & Magic and LucasArts.”
