Now that is dedication. Anyone will to walk around in stilts after a couple of beers has my respect.

Poll: The inevitable Halloween question and link-up
November 1st, 2009 by Dunc · 2 Comments
We’ve been hearing that Star Wars costumes were a hot ticket this year. (Even at the White House.) Above, an amazing AT-ST spotted by Ralph Hockens in New York City. (Another shot here.) There are plenty of shots on Flickr – far too many to link – and StarWars.com has a roundup of their coverage, including action figure costumes.
My internet favorite has to be Darth Vader and the Death Star, though.
But our question is: How many did you see? Answer below or on the sidebar.
Spot any more pics on Flickr or the internet? Link ‘em in the comments! And don’t forget you can enter the Rebelscum Costume Contest through tomorrow.

Have a cheap plastic Star Wars Halloween
October 31st, 2009 by Dunc · 1 Comment

StarWars.com documents the disposable costumes of the 70’s and 80’s. We might forget the graphics, but we’ll never forget the smell of those masks.

Some last-minute Star Wars Halloween costume ideas
October 30th, 2009 by Dunc · No Comments
StarWars.com’s Bonnie Burton has a guest-post up over at io9 with a variety of tips and tricks for DIY Star Wars costumes from all around the internet.
I’ve always been fond of the quick and easy Jedi robe. Sure, it won’t get you into the Rebel Legion or anything, but it’s easy and instantly recognizable, and what more does one really need out of a Halloween getup? (And if you pair it with some of those old-school printable masks, like Yoda up there, actually kinda creepy.)

Searching the interwebs for Star Wars pumpkins
October 19th, 2009 by Dunc · No Comments
Star Wars pumpkins are always a popular subject at this time of year, and the flood has already begun: There’s a big roundup of faces over at Walyou. Above, a dizzying array of carved (foam) pumpkins captured on camera by Dayna. But wait! I too can browse…
- You should already know of the Death Star pumpkin which shot to fame a few years back, but each year there are variations. (And then some.)
- Several impressive specimens – including an X-Wing – in San Francisco last year.
- In the same vein, an all-over Artoo.
- Speaking of carving, this is impressive – and must have taken days.
- A step-by-step on making an Imperial pumpkin.
- Want something simpler, and a lot less knifey? Princess Leia Gourdgana may be your answer.
- Also… Ackbar! Darth Squash! An amazingly detailed Yoda!
Looking to make your own? StarWars.com has some stencils (last year brought a lesson from Lawrence Noble;) Ether Graphics still has their offerings up, and the Boba Fett Multimedia Page has an entire tutorial.
But for can’t miss high quality pumpkin action? PumpkinGutter.com is a must see. They’ve featured you’ll-never-top-this carving of Yoda, Vader, Chewbacca, Greedo and many more.
